Genshiken
Sasahara Kanji është një student i vitit të parë në universitet që vendos të bashkohet me një shoqatë studentore për të ndarë mendimet e tij të fshehta mbi manga, anime dhe lojërat. Kur vizitoi për herë të parë Genshiken, shkurt për "Gendai Shikaku Bunka Kenkyuu Kai" (Shoqata për Studimin e Kulturës Vizuale Moderne), krenaria e tij e pabazuar u shkatërrua nga intriga e Madarame, një student i vitit të dytë në Genshiken, por ai ende nuk mund ta pranonte se është një otaku. Megjithatë, ndërsa merr pjesë në aktivitetet e shoqatës si vizitat në dyqanet dojin (botim privat) dhe festivalet e anime, dhe kalon kohë me anëtarët e tjerë të shoqatës si Kosaka (një otaku hardcore pavarësisht ekscentrikëve të tij ekstremë dhe pamjes së mirë), e dashura e Kosakës, Kasukabe Saki (e cila nuk është vërtet një otaku), Ohno (një cosplayer) dhe të tjerët, ai i hap mendjen dhe vendos se do të hyjë në botën e otaku. Me ndihmën e tyre, Sasahara ngadalë përshtatet me jetën e otaku në Genshiken.
