Ajo fitoi vlerësime kritike me regjistrimet e saj, veçanërisht albumet Eli and the Thirteenth Confession (1968) dhe New York Tendaberry (1969), dhe kishte sukses comercial me artistë të tillë si Barbra Streisand dhe 5th Dimension që regjistruan këngët e saj.
